The ICF-C318 has a nice sleek finish of white gloss, and its compact design is beautifully crafted to match any interior without taking up too much space. It's very handy and easy to use, and with the dimensions of 155 x 82.8 x 151.5mm, you won't have any problems fitting it on your bedside table with the lamp, a bottle of wine, and your favorite pocket book. It's also extremely lightweight with a mere weight of 1.2 pounds, easy enough to carry to different rooms, and even to different places if you're out for travel. However, it does depend on a power supply, but the lithium ion battery stocks battery back-up serves great as a savior for power outages and plug problems.
This model has a 8.9-inch touch screen display. It is a LED back-lit display and supports a variety of multi-touch gestures (which was a lot of fun to use!). The screen can be rotated 180 degrees to face outwards. Some of the other features includes a VGA port, 2 USB ports, audio jacks and a memory card reader. Instead of using the usual lithium-ion battery, this model is powered by a lithium facts-polymer battery.
The lithium-ion battery is light years ahead of the earlier batteries and considerably better than the Nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cd) or the nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) batteries which are still being used. These batteries are less expensive but the Li-ion batteries are far superior in three ways.
The mating lithium bettery stock process between the two engines can be in series or in parallel. When the two powertrains are mated in series, only one of the motors controls the cars movement. The other one simply assists the first, dominant engine. This occurs most often in mild or assist hybrids. The Saturn Vue Green Line Belt Alternator System (BAS) is a good example. The concept vehicle named the Volt from GM is another good example of a series (but not a mild) hybrid.
Li-ion cells have a good peak output current and low source resistance. When you overload the tool, the voltage stays up, and they just keep pumping current into the motor. Power tools have thermal overload trips in the motors, and that's a good thing with Li-ion batteries, if they didn't they'd just burn the motor out!
